Alina Șerban, acclaimed actress, returns to the Venice Film Festival as a director with her debut film "I Matter". The film, which addresses themes of fear, hope, and self-acceptance, will be showcased on September 8 in the "Venezia Spotlight" section. It is notable that she is the first Roma female director to represent Romania at this prestigious event. The film tells the story of a young Roma girl, Rebecca, navigating her transition from a care center and her hopes for her father's release from prison. Alina aims to shed light on the complex human experiences of Roma characters, challenging stereotypes. Her previous accolades include winning Best Actress at the German Actors Association Awards for her role in "Gipsy Queen."
