The Romanian government plans to allocate an additional 2 billion lei to the budgets of the Ministries of Transport and Environment for PNRR project payments. This funding aims to support ongoing infrastructure projects, particularly in railways and highways. Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare emphasized the need for clarity on investment obligations before the 2027 budget is prepared. The total budget mobilized for PNRR projects in 2026 is expected to exceed 46.5 billion lei, equivalent to nearly 8.7 billion euros. Nazare urged ministries to provide a complete overview of completed projects and outstanding financial obligations to ensure responsible financial management.
