This statement was made during a dinner in Athens, leading to a heated exchange with Greek officials. Following these claims, USR deputy Alexandru Dimitriu filed a treason complaint against several political leaders. Grindeanu and Simion denied the allegations, asserting their discussions with Guilfoyle were focused on energy projects, dismissing the accusations as unfounded.
