A new Android malware named Manic can steal sensitive data even without internet access by using nearby infected devices. It targets various banking and messaging applications, capturing passwords and personal information through accessibility services. Manic can relay stolen data via Wi-Fi Direct or Bluetooth to another infected device with internet access, allowing attackers to receive the information. Detected in several European countries, particularly Ukraine, Google assures users that no Manic-infected apps are on Google Play, and recommends avoiding unknown APKs and regularly checking Google Play Protect.
