Alertă la Bruxelles: Risc de oprire la Cernavodă

The Ministry of Energy has issued an early warning to the European Commission regarding the declining Danube levels, which threaten the operation of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. Following the shutdown of Unit 1, there are concerns that Unit 2 may also be affected. The alert will remain in effect until the Danube levels allow safe operation, projected not before August 15. The ministry notes that the current situation does not negatively impact the domestic electricity market, but ongoing drought conditions could lead to increased electricity consumption during peak hours. The extremely low flow of the Danube is nearing critical levels for safe cooling operations at the plant.
