The first case of West Nile virus infection this summer has been confirmed in Iași, involving a 22-year-old woman with severe neurological symptoms. She was initially treated at Vaslui County Hospital before being transferred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Iași, where the diagnosis was confirmed. Despite not recalling any mosquito bites or recent rural travel, she is currently receiving symptomatic treatment and her condition is improving. Additionally, two other patients are under investigation for potential West Nile virus infection. Health experts warn that the virus is active in Romania, especially during warm months, and emphasize the importance of preventive measures against mosquito bites.
