Hepatitis A is transmitted through contaminated food and water, and outbreaks typically occur in autumn and winter. Symptoms can appear 14 to 42 days after exposure, with initial signs resembling other viral hepatitis. Proper handwashing and drinking bottled water in high-risk areas are crucial preventive measures.
