Alertă de sănătate publică. OMS nu poate evalua riscurile focarelor de ciumă din Rusia, din lipsă de date • Newsweek România
The World Health Organization (WHO) cannot fully assess the epidemiological risks of plague cases in Russia due to a lack of data and transparency from Moscow. Following the death of a laboratory worker in Irkutsk, WHO, the U.S., and the EU have requested more information. The deceased reportedly contracted pneumonic plague after a test tube broke. WHO emphasizes the importance of timely and transparent information sharing to clarify contradictory reports and assess public health risks accurately. Russian authorities claim there is no endemic risk and have dismissed the reports as false, stating the worker was vaccinated and had immunity. Surveillance of contacts with the patient has concluded without any health issues reported.
