Albalact has been fined nearly 10 million lei after the Bucharest Tribunal upheld a sanction from the Competition Council for obstructing an inspection. The company denied inspectors access to certain emails during an unannounced investigation into potential price-fixing in the butter market. This ruling concludes the legal disputes regarding the penalties imposed on Albalact and two other dairy producers. The Competition Council confirmed that all three companies lost their appeals against the sanctions. The fines were also supplemented with daily penalties for each day of obstruction, totaling over 130,000 lei for the three companies. The inspections are authorized by the Bucharest Court of Appeal and aim to gather relevant documents in competition violation investigations.
