Alba Carolina: Cercetări la poarta lui Mihai Viteazul

Archaeological research has resumed at the eastern gate of Alba Carolina Fortress, where the ruins of the gate through which Mihai Viteazul entered were discovered. The site is significant for understanding the medieval defensive structure and its historical context. Excavations revealed the medieval tower's basement and the eastern gate of the XIII Gemina legion's camp. The findings will contribute to a tourist circuit project called "The Gates of Millennia," aimed at showcasing the evolution of Alba Iulia's fortifications. The research also uncovered systematic demolitions of medieval structures by Habsburg authorities in the 19th century.
