Four individuals are under investigation by the Capital Police for orchestrating scams using the 'fake accident' method, deceiving drivers into believing they caused accidents that damaged a supposed victim's phone. Victims were asked to pay between 4,000 and 10,000 lei to cover the alleged damages. Three suspects were apprehended, including a woman caught at an airport attempting to leave the country, while the fourth remains at large. The police received multiple reports from victims who were approached by the suspects, who falsely claimed to have been involved in accidents. Investigations led to the identification of the suspects, and evidence was seized during searches, including cash and mobile phones.
