The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is gaining support ahead of regional elections in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, while Chancellor Merz's conservatives may face their worst electoral results since WWII. AfD leads with 37% in polls, followed by the Social Democrats (SPD) at 34%. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is projected to receive only 7%, marking a historic low. The Left party is at 10%, and the Greens at 5%, while the populist Alliance led by Sahra Wagenknecht is at 4% and unlikely to enter the regional parliament.
