Cristina Niculescu's workshop is the only place in Romania still producing silk from home-raised silkworms, a practice declining due to high costs and reduced mulberry cultivation. The family has created their own supply chain, but struggles with labor shortages. They plan to open a silk museum to educate visitors about this traditional craft, supported by the aspiring UNESCO Geopark "Oltenia de sub Munte." Recently, a local event showcased the transformation of silk into traditional garments, attracting attention from visitors like journalist Charlie Ottley, who praised the preservation of this unique heritage.
