Aeroportul Heathrow pierde titlul de cel mai aglomerat aeroport din Europa
Heathrow Airport has lost its title as the busiest airport in Europe, with passenger numbers declining in July compared to last year. The airport reported 7.86 million passengers, while Istanbul recorded 8.15 million. Heathrow's traffic fell by 1.5%, influenced by a 20.2% drop in Middle Eastern routes due to geopolitical tensions. Despite this, Heathrow operates at near maximum capacity and seeks government approval for a third runway to increase its capacity to 150 million passengers annually. The expansion is argued to be essential for maintaining the UK's competitiveness and supporting economic growth.
