Arad Airport has been nearly abandoned since it has not had regular flights since 2015. The only seasonal flight to Antalya has been moved to Timișoara due to better operating conditions during extreme heat. The airport remains operational, but it struggles with low passenger traffic, recording only 26 passengers in May 2026. The local council continues to invest in the airport, aiming to enhance its operational capacity and meet regional air transport needs. The seasonal flight is expected to return to Arad on September 2.
