The head of the Permanent Electoral Authority, Adrian Țuțuianu, announced that a draft law for organizing early parliamentary elections will be made public next week. He emphasized the need for legislative changes to ensure the voting process is not hindered by a short timeframe following a potential dissolution of Parliament. The current law was designed for elections held on schedule, while early elections must occur within three months of dissolution. Key challenges include registering voters for mail-in ballots and setting up polling stations abroad. The draft proposes that election dates be set at least 75 days in advance and allows online registration for voters abroad. Organizing early elections is estimated to cost around 112-113 million euros, significantly more than regular elections. The President can dissolve Parliament after consulting with parliamentary leaders if the government fails to gain confidence within 60 days.
