Adrian Ţuţuianu, head of the Permanent Electoral Authority, stated that the institution acted on concerns regarding Călin Georgescu's campaign materials. He clarified that the Constitutional Court annulled the 2024 elections due to discrepancies between Georgescu's declared zero campaign budget and information from state institutions. Ţuţuianu emphasized that AEP's role is financial oversight, not investigation of undeclared expenses. He noted that AEP imposed fines on Georgescu for declaring zero expenses and reported irregularities to the General Prosecutor's Office. AEP has not been passive in addressing these issues, as it has referred matters beyond its legal scope to the appropriate authorities.
