The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) announced a draft law to facilitate the organization of early parliamentary elections within the constitutional timeframe. The proposal aims to ensure compliance with the three-month deadline following Parliament's dissolution and to protect voting rights for Romanians abroad. Key changes include reducing the notice period for elections from 90 to 75 days and allowing the government to set election dates within five days of dissolution. Additionally, the registration period for overseas voting will start three days post-dissolution. The AEP emphasizes that these changes are technical and do not influence the decision to hold early elections, which remains outside its jurisdiction.
