Adrian Câciu explică de ce se depreciază leul: „Nu vă uitați doar la euro. Problema este alta” / Unde vede adevărata cauză

Former Finance Minister Adrian Câciu argues that recent pressures on the exchange rate and the depreciation of the leu should be primarily viewed in the context of the dollar's performance and capital movements towards U.S. assets, rather than internal political instability. He notes that the euro has surpassed 5.34 lei, while the National Bank of Romania reported a decline of 4.8 billion euros in foreign reserves by the end of September. Câciu emphasizes that rising U.S. bond yields are driving capital relocation, impacting emerging market currencies, including the leu. He dismisses claims linking currency fluctuations to domestic political crises, suggesting they are more related to external capital needs. Câciu warns of increasing pressure on Romania's balance of payments and imported inflation, advocating for the repatriation of Romanian capital for domestic investments.
