The Regional Development Agency (ADR) Centru has launched the first regional venture capital fund, Asternova Centru, aimed at supporting innovative startups in the Centru region. This initiative, a pilot project in Romania, has a total initial budget of €8.06 million, combining public and private investments. The fund plans to finance at least 40 startups from six counties, offering investment tickets between €50,000 and €350,000. The launch event featured discussions on investment themes and networking opportunities for local companies. Unlike traditional grants, this venture capital fund emphasizes partnership and shared business risk, providing not only financial support but also mentorship and access to business networks. Currently, the fund is in the legal establishment phase and is seeking additional private resources.
