Research confirms KCL's HSAM, placing him in the top 0.1% of the population. Despite his exceptional memory, his attention and executive functions are normal, suggesting HSAM is not a sign of overall superior memory but rather a unique retrieval process. This case highlights the involuntary nature of autobiographical memories in individuals with HSAM, differing from typical voluntary recall studies.
