Adevărul despre robinetele de aur ale lui Ceaușescu
The myth of the 'golden' faucets in Ceaușescu's Spring Palace has been debunked; they were not made of solid gold but rather brass with a thin gold plating. Only 150 grams of gold were used for all decorations, and the faucets were annually re-plated with about one gram of gold. The misconception arose from the visual impact of the gold mosaic bathrooms after the 1989 revolution. Cristian Gheorghiu, who worked in the palace, confirmed the annual maintenance of the faucets.
