A stage adaptation of the 1984 film 'Purple Rain' will premiere on Broadway in 2027, featuring over 20 hits by Prince. The musical, directed by Saheem Ali, aims to honor Prince's legacy while introducing his timeless music to a new generation. The story follows a young artist, 'The Kid', navigating fame and personal challenges in 1984 Minneapolis. The production will include a libretto by Peter Duchan and musical direction by Jason Michael Webb, with choreography by Ebony Williams. The show will have previews starting March 12, 2027, before its official opening on April 12, 2027.
