Account-compromise incidents up 353% in 2025; phishing incidents rise 70.6%, says Romanian National Cybersecurity Directorate
In 2025, phishing incidents surged by 70.6% to 4,975, while account compromises rose by 353% to 1,125, as reported by the Romanian National Cybersecurity Directorate. Fraud incidents also increased by 91%, driven by advanced phishing tactics and social engineering. Ransomware attacks grew by over 153%, impacting various sectors, particularly banking and finance. Despite these increases, some incidents like brute-force and DDoS attacks saw significant declines. The report highlights the need for rapid action in cybersecurity to position Romania as a leader in the field.
