The Ministry of Finance has announced that the diesel excise tax will remain reduced by 25% from October 1 to 15, 2026, to alleviate pressure on fuel prices. This measure is part of a dynamic mechanism that adjusts based on international market trends and aims to limit the economic impact of rising fuel costs. The effective excise tax for standard diesel will be 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters. Current diesel prices are just below 11 lei per liter, with Petrom offering the lowest price at 10.91 lei. Gasoline prices have also surpassed 10 lei per liter in most networks, with Petrom and Socar being the exceptions at 9.99 lei.
