The Ministry of Finance increases the temporary diesel excise reduction to 25% for September 1-15, 2026, due to recent market evaluations. This adjustment follows a previous 20% reduction and aims to alleviate the impact of rising international prices on consumers. The new excise level will be 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters. The mechanism established by Law no. 162/2026 allows for bi-weekly adjustments based on market dynamics. Continuous monitoring will ensure the excise is recalibrated according to international price trends.
