The Romanian Ministry of Finance announced a 25% reduction in diesel excise duty from September 1 to 15, 2026, due to rising international prices. The new excise will be 2,103.22 lei per 1,000 liters, impacting the final pump price. This temporary measure aims to alleviate transport costs and inflation on consumer goods. The excise reduction is recalculated bi-monthly based on market indicators, and the maximum reduction cannot exceed 25%. After September 15, a new assessment will determine if the reduction continues, decreases, or returns to standard levels.
