The Ministry of Finance will temporarily reduce the excise duty on standard diesel by 20% from August 16 to 31 due to rising international prices. This measure is expected to save consumers 68 bani per liter, translating to approximately 34 lei for a full tank. The excise will decrease to 2,243.43 lei per 1,000 liters. The decision follows a significant increase in international diesel prices and pump prices. The reduction will be reassessed bi-weekly based on market conditions, aiming to alleviate pressure on consumers and businesses without incurring a net budget cost.
