The excise duty on standard diesel will be reduced by 20% from August 16 to 31, 2026, due to significant increases in international prices and pump prices. This reduction amounts to 560.86 lei per 1,000 liters, bringing the excise to 2,243.43 lei per 1,000 liters. The measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers and businesses amid rising fuel costs. The interim Finance Minister stated that this temporary intervention will be reassessed biweekly based on market conditions.
