The Romanian Ministry of Finance has decided to maintain a 25% reduction in the excise tax on diesel fuel until September 30, 2026. This decision follows a bi-weekly market evaluation and aims to support fiscal measures amid rising international fuel prices. The reduction translates to a decrease of 701.07 lei per 1,000 liters of diesel. The excise tax will be set at 2,103.22 lei for 1,000 liters during this period. The mechanism for adjusting the excise tax allows for periodic reassessment based on market conditions. This measure is expected to help limit transportation costs, although it does not guarantee lower pump prices for consumers. The excise tax will be reevaluated again in October 2026.
