Two firefighting helicopters collided near Athens, resulting in the deaths of a Danish pilot and a Greek coordinator. The incident occurred during operations to combat wildfires in extreme weather conditions. Four individuals were on board, with two sustaining minor injuries and the others found unconscious. The Romanian firefighting module deployed in Greece is not in the accident area and is conducting ground operations only. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted the challenges posed by severe weather, stating that strong winds hinder aerial firefighting efforts.
