In Bistrița-Năsăud, over a third of road accidents in the first half of 2026 were caused by cyclists and scooter riders. The total number of accidents increased by nearly 20% compared to the previous year, although fatalities decreased significantly. The main causes of serious accidents included speeding, cyclist violations, and pedestrian crossings. Police actions led to numerous traffic violations and the suspension of many driving licenses.
