Approximately 150 people showed their support, claiming he is a victim of political persecution. The protests began after his arrest on September 29, following a court ruling that overturned a previous decision for judicial control. Georgescu is under investigation by DIICOT for forming an organized criminal group and fraud, with allegations involving a scheme promising a businessman a €6 million funding in exchange for a guarantee. The investigation revealed that over €1 million was transferred, but the promised funding did not materialize. On Thursday, Georgescu was taken to DIICOT for further digital evidence searches.
