After returning to Romania post-1989, he founded the Uniunea Liberală Brătianu and promoted classical liberal values. He also established the Fundația Culturală Ion I. Brătianu, which became a key center for Romanian history and culture. His death symbolizes the conclusion of an era for one of Romania's most significant political families.
