A murit Ratko Mladic. „Măcelarul din Bosnia” a murit în închisoarea ONU de la Haga
Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian Serb military commander sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide, died in a UN detention unit in The Hague at the age of 84. His health had significantly deteriorated, and he was in the final stages of life. Just a week before his death, a request for early release on humanitarian grounds was denied. Mladić was convicted in 2017 for his role in the Bosnian War, including the Srebrenica genocide, where thousands of Bosniak men were killed. He was also found guilty of crimes during the siege of Sarajevo. Mladić had evaded capture for nearly 16 years before being arrested in 2011. His life sentence was confirmed in 2021, marking him as a key figure in the international trials for war crimes during the Yugoslav Wars.
