Italian photographer Franco Fontana, known for his abstract landscapes, passed away at 92. He pioneered color photography in the 1960s, influenced by abstract expressionism and minimalism. His iconic works feature vibrant rural and urban scenes from Italy and the U.S., often highlighting isolated elements. Born in Modena, Fontana remained connected to his hometown throughout his life, despite opportunities abroad. His global recognition includes over 400 exhibitions and displays in more than 50 museums. A major retrospective of his work is set to take place in Rome from December 2024 to August 2025.
