Brigadier General Marin Lungu, the youngest Romanian combatant in World War II, has passed away at 90. His remarkable story began at age 7 when he was enlisted as a child soldier, later becoming a scout in the 9th Infantry Division. He participated in significant battles and was captured by German forces in 1945. Lungu was decorated multiple times for his bravery and became a symbol of resilience, influencing generations through his story featured in school curricula. After the war, he worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and faced housing challenges later in life, ultimately moving to a social apartment in 2014. His legacy continues to inspire many.
