The oldest person in Romania, Noja Paladia, has passed away at the age of 111 in Cugir. She was recognized as the first documented supercentenarian in the country, having lived through two world wars and leaving behind a legacy of four generations. Her death marks the end of a rare chapter in Romanian history. Born on July 20, 1915, she was also the oldest person in the Balkans and ranked 124th among the world's oldest living individuals. Following her passing, the title of the oldest person in Romania now belongs to Iosif Rus, while Viorica Vețian is the oldest woman.
