Biljana Plavšić, the only woman convicted by the Hague Tribunal for genocide and war crimes, passed away at 96 in Belgrade. She was a significant political figure during the Bosnian War and served as president of Republika Srpska from 1996 to 1998. Initially a professor, she was charged in 2000 and later pleaded guilty to persecution, receiving an 11-year sentence. Released in 2009, she lived a quiet life in Serbia until her death.
