The rabies vaccination campaign for foxes started on September 25 in Sibiu County, aiming to prevent rabies spread among wildlife and domestic animals. The campaign includes aerial and terrestrial distribution of vaccine baits, monitoring, and testing of animals suspected of rabies. A presentation on the vaccination efforts will be made at the Prefectural College meeting on September 29. So far, 19 rabies suspicions have been investigated in the county, with no confirmed cases this year. Vaccination is crucial as foxes are significant in rabies transmission among wildlife. Continuous monitoring and vaccination efforts have kept Sibiu County free of confirmed rabies cases in 2026.
