The contract for the construction of the new "Dan Păltinișanu" Stadium in Timișoara has been signed, with Alfred Simonis criticizing local politicians for their previous opposition. He highlighted that Timiș County is a major contributor to the national budget and has funded numerous stadiums across the country without co-financing. Simonis expressed gratitude to the government for allowing the county to use its own funds for this project, which is set to cost 140 million euros and will be built by a consortium led by Concelex. The stadium will have a capacity of 32,000 seats and is expected to be completed by 2028.
