The Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Sorin Elisei, announced the resumption of production at Turceni 5 and Rovinari 4, despite commitments to close Turceni. He emphasized that the value produced by Turceni outweighs potential penalties from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Both units began operating at full capacity on Monday afternoon, and Elisei assured that there are sufficient coal stocks for energy production during peak consumption periods. Turceni 5 will continue to operate beyond the agreed closure date of August 31.
