A fost realizată cea mai mare hartă 2D a Universului. Conține aproape 4 miliarde de obiecte cosmice • Newsweek România

Astronomers have created the largest 2D map of the Universe, featuring nearly 4 billion cosmic objects across 75% of the visible sky. This map, developed by the Legacy Imaging Surveys team using over 263,000 telescope exposures, spans 5.6 trillion pixels and includes stars, galaxies, and other celestial bodies. The project aims to assist in understanding dark energy and the Universe's expansion, with DESI expected to map over 47 million galaxies and quasars by 2026. The data will also support various scientific studies and AI training for future astronomical research.
