President Nicușor Dan has enacted a law abolishing the entrance exam for high school, which was previously in addition to the National Assessment. This change modifies the pre-university education law, allowing high schools to admit students solely based on the National Assessment results. The new regulations will take effect on September 1, 2026, and the Ministry of Education will issue a new exam methodology. The Senate overwhelmingly voted in favor of this change, with 104 votes for and only three abstentions, correcting what was seen as an unfair parallel exam system. Senator Ștefan Pălărie emphasized the importance of this decision in light of concerning PISA test results.
