A fost identificată o tulpină de Candida auris rezistentă la patru clase de antifungice. Este al doilea caz documentat la nivel mondial
A new strain of Candida auris resistant to four classes of antifungals has been identified in Kenya, marking the second documented case globally. The patient, a 28-year-old, developed a surgical wound infection in the hospital. This strain poses significant treatment challenges due to its resistance to azoles, echinocandins, polyenes, and flucytosine. The World Health Organization classifies it as a critical priority pathogen, highlighting the urgent need for monitoring antifungal resistance and careful use of existing medications. The study indicates no outbreak or community spread of this strain, but emphasizes the importance of vigilance in healthcare settings.
