Supporters of Călin Georgescu gathered outside the Central Arrest on October 16, despite bad weather, demanding his release. Approximately 100 people protested, waving flags and chanting slogans. Georgescu, who is currently in custody, recently appeared before a judge, asserting his innocence and expressing a desire for a fair trial. The Bucharest Tribunal has approved his house arrest, but the decision is not final and will be contested by DIICOT at the Bucharest Court of Appeal. The judge justified the house arrest by noting that the charges are not violent and that Georgescu has complied with previous legal requirements.
