Protesters waved Romanian flags and chanted slogans claiming his innocence and political persecution. George Simion, leader of AUR, encouraged supporters to continue their demonstrations. The Capital's Gendarmerie reported issuing 124 fines totaling 101,000 lei during recent public gatherings. Georgescu was arrested on September 29 for forming an organized criminal group and fraud, with a court decision on his release postponed to October 13.
