A study by the Society for Contraceptive and Sexual Education (SECS) reveals that 79.2% of Romanian youth used condoms during their first sexual encounter, a significant increase from 64.9% in 2013-2014. Additionally, 74.3% reported having sexual experiences under the influence of alcohol, a rise from 43.2% in 2021. The average age for starting sexual activity is around 18, with many respondents having one or more partners. Experts emphasize the need for ongoing sexual health education, highlighting the risks associated with alcohol consumption in sexual contexts, including potential sexual violence and health issues. The survey included 464 participants, primarily aged 12 to 26, and was conducted between May 1 and June 6, 2026.
