67 NGOs urge President Dan, foreign minister to support AgoraEU programme, oppose budget cuts

Sixty-seven NGOs have urged Romanian officials to support the AgoraEU programme and oppose proposed budget cuts. The letter highlights a 30% reduction suggested by the Irish EU Council presidency, which would significantly impact funding for democracy and civil society initiatives. The NGOs emphasize the need for increased investment in AgoraEU, which currently represents a small fraction of the EU budget. They argue that strengthening this programme is crucial for democratic resilience across the EU, as challenges in one member state affect the entire Union. The letter is supported by over 560 European organizations advocating for enhanced funding.
