In Moldova, nearly 500 localities have voluntarily merged into larger municipalities, representing about 60% of all local governments. This amalgamation aims to enhance resource allocation and attract investments for infrastructure projects. The government encourages local leaders to finalize their decisions by the end of August to access tripled incentives for development projects. Currently, 85% of municipalities have initiated the process, with a significant number already completed. The government plans to support these merged municipalities with over 6.5 billion lei for various local development initiatives.
